PFUJ hosts Training visit of Afghan Journalists
Pakistan Federal Union of journalists (PFUJ) hosted a delegation of 11 journalists from Afghanistan from March 26 to April 2, 2015.
The opening session in Islamabad on March 26 was presided over by the IFJ rep to Pakistan Mr. Pervaiz Shaukat. PFUJ instructors gave them introduction to the unionism and PFUJ while the concept of freedom of expression was also elaborated in line with the local and international laws. Mr. Pervaiz Shaukat welcomed the delegate and gave them briefing on IFJ, its working and network.
The delegate reached Lahore on March 27 and remained there for five days. President PFUJ along with other office bearers of the Federation and assured them of all the cooperation for their training sessions during their stay in Pakistan. Training workshops were held by the PFUJ on different days where instructors imparted training on objective reporting, economic reporting, freedom of expression, safety measures while political and traditional relationship between two neighbor countries Pakistan and Afghanistan were also elaborated and discussed.
The delegation was also taken to the chamber of commerce where meeting was held with renowned businessmen of the country while the Afghan journalists visited different historic places of the city and observed the proceedings of Punjab Assembly session . On their way back to Afghanistan, the delegation spent a day in Islamabad. They visited different tourist places and had a meeting with Afghan ambassador and some political leaders arranged by the PFUJ. They left for Afghanistan on April 2.
